Barrow Park, contracted to Leck Construction for redevelopment in 2005, has recently beaten off stiff competition to be voted the best park in the Northwest  at the annual Briggs and Stratton awards. This follows it success in achieving the Landscape Institute Award in 2007 for Heritage and Conservation. It has been awarded Green Flag status for 2008.
